The Rachmaninov String Quartet was founded in 1978. Its home is the Philharmonic
Hall in Sochi in the South of Russia. Since then They have given over 2500
recitals all over the world. They have recorded many CDs during the 1990s,
culminating in "The Russian Soul". We welcome them to West Sussex as part of
their UK 2003 Tour.
Andrej Andrejew was born and studied in Novosibirsk. He was concertmaster at Kemerovo and soloist at Volgograd. Since 1988 he has worked as soloist at the Philharmonic Hall in Sochi. He is Professor for chamber music and violin at the Krasnodar Conservatory.
Natalia Volkova was born in Sochi. She studied in Krasnodar at the Music College and at the State Conservatory. Since 1990, she has worked for the State Philharmony of Sochi.
Sergej Zedrik was born in Archangelsk and studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. He is Professor for chamber music and viola at the State Conservatory in Krasnodar.
Vladimir Schochov was born in Charkov. He studied at the Moscow Gnesin Institute. He also works as a soloist at the Philharmonic Hall in Sochi.
