Greatly influenced by his meetings with Clifford Curzon, Claudio Arrau and Myra Hess, the success of Peter Katin's Wigmore Hall debut in 1948 started him on a career that has taken him throughout the world. A performance of Rachmaninov's D minor Concerto established him as a virtuoso of the first order. He is a leading interpreter of the works of Chopin. He has over thirty recordings available, more than at any time in his career.

President of the Camerata of London, Peter Katin's association with them has included two Mozart Concertos as conductor and soloist, and the liaison has continued with a Beethoven cycle of all five concertos, and the Seventh Symphony. In 1977, he formed a piano trio, and once again he is working in the field of lieder.

Peter Katin has many interests outside music. He likes the theatre, literature, photography and writing. He is the author of several articles, and is in the process of writing his autobiography.

We welcome Peter Katin on this, his second, visit to the Bognor Regis Music Club.

"The key quality is not that his playing is old-fashioned, but that it transcends fashion"
"Katin's faith in music and its composers is ageless. It seems to be his whole reason for playing"
