Levon Chilingirian's partnership with Clifford Benson was launched in 1969 by winning the BBC Beethoven Competition, followed by the Munich Duo Prize in 1971. Levon trained at the Royal College of Music after his family emigrated to London in 1960. In 1971 he formed the Chilingirian String Quartet with other ex-RCM students. The Quartet has become one of the most active and celebrated string quartets on the international scene. Levon has performed concerti by Brahms, Beethoven, Mozart and Bach. He also recorded the Tippett Triple Concerto with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. He recently became Musical Director of The Camerata Roman, a Swedish string ensemble. He was invited to give a Masterclass for the BBC Young Musician of the Year, and has led a Schubert Quintet performance for the Wigmore Hall Millennium celebrations. He received an OBE in January 2000.

Clifford Benson is a pianist highly acclaimed for his sensitivity and strong feeling for poetry and colour. He enjoys a varied career of performing solo piano, chamber music and composing. He was the pianist for the Jacqeline du Pré Masterclasses on BBC TV and was a member of the Nash Ensemble for many years.
